Jill Scott

Who Is Jill Scott?

Epic

Release Date:

Jill Scott is this month, Phatmag's main feature. The album is smooth and brilliantly produced. Listening to this album reminds me of swallowing honey....sweet, rich and slides down the back of your throat. The bass lines are PHAT (our favourite word here at Phatmag.com) and the production is crisp. Some tracks on the album are so slow that you feel as though they're going to stop, but they never do. They take you on a smooth ride from beginning to end.

On first listening to the album, your reaction is 'wow, who is this?' It sounds like Erykah Badu but after a while, it takes on a life of its own and it definitely becomes Jill Scott. "One is the Magic Number" is a track that sticks in your mind.

Jill Scott is currently on an European promotional tour and will be hitting the UK possibly in September for several shows at the Jazz Cafe, Camden. Keep a check on Phatmag.com for further updates.

We truly recommend that you go out and buy this album. Jill Scott will be hard to ignore throughout the balance of 2000 and maybe into the future. We at Phatmag.com eagerly await the release of Erykah Badu's follow-up album which is due sometime at the end of the October/November. We then think the comparisons will be more brutal and direct. We were by the way fully awake whilst listening the Jill Scott album and so could never be accused of lazy listening.
