Rokia Traoré is one of this year's world scene' s revelation. This young woman from Mali has totally charmed the French audience, her debut album has already sold 20,000 units in France. The twenty something year old Rokia definitely knows how to seduce her audience. We would pinpoint more particularly her ballads, which are of a rare beauty, enriched by the sophisticated and intelligent use of traditional instruments. By directing her musicians, she succeeds in creating her own sound, her texts reflect her wisdom.

Nevertheless Rokia does not hesitate to move away from ancestral precepts in order to taste the flavors of the dancing nights of Mali.

On November 11th, she performed at "La Cigale", supported by prestigious guest such as guitarist singer Boubakar Traoré, Rokia succeeds in switching gently from moment's of emotion to party time spirit and made everyone stand up at the end of the show to give her a well deserved ovation.
