The next big sensation or the next wannabes Tommi , the next girl group with a mission, a group who "wants to be as big as the spice girls," consists of five vibrant Tom Boys, Stylus, Lil Chill, Ms Thang, Bamby and Peak-a-boo. The show case was well attended by A&Rs (whom off course have not signed anything for years), in search of the next big Thang, and were they disappointed? Of course not. They were blown away by the formulated look and the 4 tracks from there demos, which include Sweet Dreams, the Eurithmics hit. The group were formed by an ex band member of Benz (BJ or Overlord X), about 3 months ago who had a vision for a new girl group when he came across Stylus, a budding DJ at a TQ showcase, Lil Chill at an East End market stall, Bamby on her way to work, Ms Thang at a dance show and Peak-a-boo on her way back to Scotland after a day out shopping in London. " I was on the train on the way back to Glasgow when I saw big Ben from Phats and Small," says Peak-a-boo in her strong Scottish ascent, " so I went over to speak to him, and he told me about this group which his friend was putting together, which I might be right for, so he gave me the number and that was it really. It was fate." " I used to spend hours in my room just Djing, and never thought I'll be asked to join a group" Stylus recalls "I kinda listened and practiced to a lot of R&B tunes, which is something we all do," hence the evident R&B presence their songs, a sound that could be described as a mixture of pop and R&B, Spice Girls meet Timberland, B-witched meet Missy Elliot, etc. etc., undoubtedly a clever mix of sounds, captured by the producer BJ. |
