Phatmag: What was the vibe
like in Switzerland, Holland and Paris?
Amad-Jamal: Switzerland. Clean,
picturesque, beautiful, and then these gritty looks of just people you
know what I'm saying doing they're thing. I did some stuff in Zurich
and I went to Beal which is a very small town about an hour and a half
out of Zurich and the people are there just for the love and I like
that. As well as just the weather conditions over here, it takes a lot
to get out when it's freezing temperature. Hale is hitting you in your
face on your way out and you just want to get to the spot to get hot
to shake your ass. I like their motivation because if we're talking
about LA...the first sign of rain or a cloud ain't nobody going out
because they don't have the kind of clothes to prepare for it you know
what I'm saying. Everybody wants to have on they're linen or be half
naked if you're a woman and just get out there
Phatmag: What do you think
of the European women?
Amad-Jamal: Beautiful. In a phrase
"shit. My style" you know what I'm saying. Beautiful, worldly, because
you have that world culture here from everywhere - the countries are
so close it's like traveling from the East Coast to the West Coast.
I might dare to even say that the United States might be bigger than
from here to Italy or something. Just Europe in itself, not counting
Asia you know what I'm saying... easy to get around, close. The women
are special here man. You know, I'm gonna tell you literally seriously,
my conversations with women have been better here. They like to talk
you know. There's more to talk about and since they are from other places,
other cultures, there's more languages and other things to talk about...things
I've never seen. I'm learning from the women here in Europe, I'm lovin
English women, I'm lovin French women, Moroccan women, African women
- I love the concentration of African women here. Like we have African
Americans in America but when you meet a girl straight from Zaire, or
you meeting a girl straight from Cairo, or Morocco, you know what I'm
saying, it's a bit of a difference. She's really telling you about the
Sudan. You know, you're like, I think I'll go to Africa she's like well
I lived in the Sudan. I like that

Phatmag: Going back to your
album, who have you got on your album. Who's producing and who have you
got featuring on your album?

Amad-Jamal: Evidence from Dilated
Peoples did production on my album. New comer from Venice California named
Bravo. Joey Chavez has a name back home in the States and over here -
people in the hip hop scene know who Joey Chavez is because he works closely
with ABB. He's on my project. I'm gonna do beats with Khail LaTief. Khail
LaTief is actually my brother. He's a producer. Did a track with DJ Kalil
from Soul Scientific in LA - the backbone of my crew and as far as other
collaborations with other artists....I'm gonna be having Talib Kwali on
my records, Jurasic Five, Dilated Peoples and all other Solar Panal which
consists of Soul Scientific, Anonymous, Wizards of God...Twisted Angles,
my man G Supreme is a producer I'm gonna have work on my project. J Brillo
from Twisted Angles is a producer, I'm gonna have him on my project as
well as various MC's that I know from the area that you guys soon will
know....and of course, my brother, Combo MC from LA and Devine Universal,
Kaos you know.
Phatmag: When can we expect
your album
Amad-Jamal: Expect my album this
time next year. Spring of next year definately. It has to be out that
time ("by contract" he whispers) but yeah this time next year. I don't
have an exact date but lets just say Spring of 2002, Amad-Jamal will drop
a full length project on you.
